Nokia Siemens to Shrink Workforce by 9,000

Abstract

Following in the footsteps of fellow telecom equipment maker Alcatel, Nokia Siemens Networks will advance plans to reduce its 60,000-person workforce by 15 percent -- 9,000 people -- in the next two-and-a-half years, the Finland-based company said Friday. The cuts are part of a larger plan to become more competitive in a vastly changed telecom landscape, it stated.
