"Last Days at the Lodge" by Amos Lee

Abstract

Since giving up his career as an elementary school teacher to pursue the life of a working musician, Philly-born singer/songwriter Amos Lee has sold over a half million records and been handpicked to tour with the likes of Norah Jones and Bob Dylan. Surrounding himself with an ensemble of session musicians that have played alongside greats like Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker and Neil Young, Lee looks to three-peat his past success with Last Days At The Lodge. Lee's smooth blend of light jazz, soul and folk rock is as genuine and heartfelt as it comes, each song telling an emotion-soaked story. Album opener, "Listen" coild very well be one of the best songs to grace the genre of contemporary folk rock in recent times, but it's also an act that the rest of the album has a hard time following. The slightly twangy "Street Corner Preacher," laidback, yet powerful "Kid" and "It Started To Rain" have several remarkable qualities of their own, but the remainder of Last Days At The Lodge
