One of gaming's biggest fighting game franchises is headed to the iPhone. Capcom announced today that it's bringing
Street Fighter 4 to the iPhone, and in surprisingly complete form; the game even features the same art style seen in the console and arcade versions. Only Ryu and Ken have been confirmed at this point, according to
IGN, but other characters will be in the game -- including some who were newly introduced in SF4, as well as those from previous Street Fighter games. Those who
do make the cut will have their entire arsenal of moves at their disposal, including Ultras in all their glory.
Multiple control schemes will be available so that you can find one that works for you. That's important, not only because opinions vary greatly when it comes to touchscreen controls, but also because you'll want to be very comfortable as you do battle with another player in the game's 2-player Bluetooth multiplayer.
If you read our interview with Street Fighter 4 producer Yoshinori Ono back in 2008, you probably aren't shocked to hear that the game is now headed to the iPhone. While discussing the possibility of SF4 coming to Wii, Ono said, "As long as people want to play Street Fighter 4, it could be on anything -- even this iPhone, for that matter. It really could be on any platform that could support it. So let's just see what happens." So even back in 2008, the notion had been brought up by Capcom.
