The MTV Movies Blog had a chance to talk to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and got a status report on the planned sequel to Stephen Sommers' summer 2009 hit G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra , which grossed $300 million last summer. Although writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have yet to submit a full script, di Bonaventura is optimistic they'll be ready to start shooting the G.I. Joe Sequel sometime next spring for a summer 2012 release.

IMAX Corporation, Marvel Entertainment and Paramount Pictures today announced that the highly-anticipated action-adventure Iron Man 2, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey, Jr., will open for a special limited two-week engagement in 182 IMAX(R) theatres domestically on May 7, 2010, and in 68 IMAX theatres internationally, with 51 of those runs opening this weekend. The IMAX release has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R) with IMAX DMR(R) technology.

With so much conjecture this past week about whether Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass may have been hindered by its R rating, thereby limiting its audience, the MPAA has announced today that Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World , based on the comic series from Bryan Lee O'Malley, has received a PG-13 rating for "stylized violence, sexual content, language and drug references."
Cinematical got a chance to speak to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight director of photography Wally Pfister, who said that there's a good chance the next Batman film won't be released in 3D. A full IMAX release is possible, however.
