It's been almost three years since we saw the first Trauma Center game get a release on the Nintendo DS, and it was the first in it's genre. When Trauma Center first launched, it provided players with a somewhat enjoyable experience that turned a player's lounge room into an operating room. Fortunately, Trauma Center to this day is still one of the only series to do so, and with the release of Trauma Center: Under The Knife 2, Atlus futher builds on their succesful audience while alienating other fans too.

From a translated Famitsu page comes news that the next Tales game will be released on the Wii exclusively, following the currently Xbox 360 release of Tales of Vesperia. In the mean time, however, the Wii will be getting Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, a title which is 100% original but still remains a direct sequel to the Gamecube hit, Tales of Symphonia.

Nippon Ichi, a Japanese retailer, published several advertisements for the eagerly awaited Disgaea DS title. What really caught readers attention though is that the DS's featured in the advertisement had widescreens! Could this be a new DS revision that was accidently unveiled? Nintendo told Eurogamer yesterday that the answer is "No", although apparently they wouldn't comment on the authenticity of the advertisement itself, but rather stated that it didn't mean much.

With the E3 just over a week away, we thought we would point out what’s happening on the site this year and ask a few questions. First on the agenda are Live Blogs. Take a look to the right and you will see the Aussie times for the 2008 Nintendo E3 conference. While many a site offers live streaming we’ve always done a live blog for you to follow along if you don’t have the bandwidth or just want to read a recap in the morning, so this year we are asking “Do you want us to Live Blog?” if you’re a member head to the
forum thread or tell us in the poll on the left. We’ll be back later with more information on our E3 coverage, chat and more this weekend.

When Nintendo first released the Wii, included in the marvellous little white box was an exciting new type of game - Wii Sports. Wii Sports covered five basic sports and the huge popularity of Wii Sports sparked many developers to create their own twist on the new "virtual sport" genre. The mini-game compilation is one such twist, and although Big Beach Sports is marketed as a sports title, it certainly feels like a bunch of mini-games with waggle controls thrown in. It's not all bad though as it marks the first time cricket is playable on the Wii.

Super Smash Bros Brawl may not be the last Smash heading our way but it won’t be just to add in the characters that got the chop from Brawl. According to an as yet unpublished interview in the Official Nintendo Magazine, Masahiro Sakurai, developer of Brawl has admitted the many new ideas that didn’t make it into the game and at some point had to stop adding things and work on what they had – that included more characters but he is keeping silent on exactly what ones.

Two WiiWare games have been released onto the shopping channel this week. First up is the overall underwhelming My Pokemon Ranch, hopefully not taking too much thunder away from the awesome fun that is pOp, the other game out this week. Fans will enjoy My Pokemon Ranch but there isn't too much too it for the 1000 points it costs. pOp, on the other hand, is great value at 700 points and remember that it is made here in Australia! See our
review for more info.

A lot of gamers may or may not find themselves endowed with the mastery of the culinary arts, and for those who don't, Cooking Guide: Can't decide what to eat? is a masterpiece in almost every manner. From the simplest dishes like Macaroni Cheese to complex international cuisine, Cooking Guide is one game, if you want to call it that, that gamers cannot do without. Of course, it's not for everyone, but it's still pretty damn amazing how much quality content has been packed into this little DS game card.

Konami's succesful 2006 title, Elebits (known as Eledee's in other regions), is set to get a sequel exclusively for the Nintendo DS. Elebits: The Adventures of Kai & Zero looks to be an adventure game, stepping away from it's puzzle orientated cousin on the Nintendo Wii. The game is alledged to have fetch and collect mechanics, and requires the protagonist to find Omega Elebits in order to earn abilities and progress through the game.

The latest edition of Official Nintendo Magazine, have sparked both anticipation and interest via a promotional image used within their pages. Although the issue alledgedly hasn't hit shelves yet, but reaching subscribers, it features an interesting piece of Animal Crossing artwork for it's E3 special, with a box out saying "It's been a while! It's time to revisit an old friend. How's your village doing these days?". Could this mean a new installment of Nintendo's popular simulation is coming to the Wii, or just another Nintendo DS?

Brawl has top the Weekly Aussie Software charts, but the real story is the resurgence of Wii Fit back up #2 after nearly falling off the charts last week. Wii Play is back up to position 3. The newly revealed Megaman 9 will be a Wii exclusive, as confirmed by Capcom. Look for more on the WiiWare exclusive at E3.

Emergency Mayhem changes the player’s role from that of taxi driver to an emergency services worker racing to save Crisis City from complete chaos. Emergency themed mini-games break up the driving action and add something a little different to the mix, but overall there are too many flaws and unrealised opportunities to make Emergency Mayhem stand out in the crowded Wii market.

According the UK retailer
HMV’s website the upcoming Sega game Samba De Amigo is to be bundled with two plastic shells in the shape of Maracas as per its Dreamcast cousin (although they were actually Maracas controllers) The game box is strangely the Aussie box art but never the less it seems legit enough. Interestingly enough, previous statements about the game have claimed support for Pay To Play – however this box art is not showing the logo many gamers dread (why? Who knows). This may be an error as the box art is no longer final, so don’t take this news as 100% official yet.

With the launch of Brawl last week in the PAL region the inevitable issue of the disk read errors that plagued some Japanese and American Wii’s has hit home. The issue has been that Brawl is the first dual layered Wii release and that little laser sitting the drive of the Wii has been inactive since launch and now that it’s in use built up dust is causing disk errors. While Nintendo Australia has not issued anything on the matter yet, Nintendo UK
has but if you’re having an issue you know who to ring.

Following the accidental unveiling of everyone's favourite Capcom character via an OFLC listing, it appears Megaman 9 has been finally revealed - and it's a WiiWare game! What makes this game even more interesting though, is that it will sport the classic NES look that previously only Megaman 1 and 2 had. According to Nintendo Power, the game will feature 8-bit style visuals, music and cutscenes, as well as eight bosses. Dr Wily is also alledged to make his long awaited return. Megaman 9 has yet to receive a release date, yet alone be officially announced by Capcom themselves so a release date at this late stage is unknown.

Sporting a more stylised cartoon artistic direction, The Fallen King will be in stores these Christmas holidays.

Today Warner Bros Interactive and Traveller's Tales announced an exciting partnership with Guiness World Records designed to assist in bringing a game based on the world famous franchise(?) to a video game platform. Guiness World Records: The Videogame allows players to become real world record breakers, alledges a recently released PR. So far, it has been confirmed that both single and multiplayer modes will be available, while the game is also alledged to feature "accessible game mechanics". An interesting concept in theory but how will it turn out in practice?

In an interview from Gamasutra with Benoit Galarneau, producer of Ubisoft's critically panned series Petz, Galarneau revealed the reason why Ubisoft feels the need to tack a Z on to every title they release. Galarneau explicitly stated that the reason for the grammatically incorrect names is that it assist in differentiating the product. Galarneau's example included that instead of promoting "Dogs" in general, they are instead promoting "Dogz", the title Ubisoft made and produced. We're sure that after hearing this news you can all sleep so much better.

The latest issue of Nintendo Power confirms something that we really didn't see coming - a Castlevania fighting game for the Wii. Tentatively titled "Castlevania Judgement", only a few characters and usable weapons have been confirmed, but it's early days so far. Movement is performed using the nunchuck, while motion attacks will be used with the Wiimote. Dracula, Alucard, Simon Belmont, Maria Renard and Shanoa are all confirmed to be returning so far. Considering Konami's [virtually non-existant] track record with fighting games, it'll be interesting to see how Castlevania Judgement will turn out.

While far from a confirmation, Camelot's Takahashi Brothers have

In a new (smaller) interview with Shigeru Miyamoto the gaming master answered what someone might describe as ‘different’ questions. The main one being what is Nintendo doing about quality control these days? "I'm always instructing my game designers on the history of the characters and worlds we've created," he said. "Often we're in development and I'll say, "Oh, this looks like a Sega game. We need to make it look more like Mario." Snap.

Electronic Arts Vice President, David McCarthy, has today made an statement with regards to the status of EA Sports titles on the Wii, mentioning that the games are slowly losing their target audience. McCarthy believes that although he is losing his demographic for the titles released almost annually, that what Nintendo is doing "becomes very important to us" as it aims to increase interest in physical hobbies without losing interest due to physical or health reasons. What does this mean for Wii gamers? Hopefully some much more decent and substantial EA Sports titles for the Wii in the near future.

Skate It, the sequel to the surprising skateboarder hit of 2007, will allegedly ship with skateboard shells to attach to the Wii Balance Board, if recent rumours are anything to go by. Allegedly the developers voiced a concern that players won't be able to detect their position on the skateboard without looking down on the Balance Board itself. Fortunately, if a skateboard attachment were to be released, this problem would be rectified.
