The Tecmo and Grasshopper Manufacture co-developed survival horror game, Fatal Frame IV, may be heading out of Japan and to Europe of all places. The latest issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine in UK currently has a feature about The Hot Half Hundred for upcoming games and on the list is Fatal Frame IV and its listed for February. Retailer Play also has a listing for the game coming in February too. Well mark this one up as a rumour for now as both ONM and retail listings are sometimes inaccurate. But if true, chalk up another great game for the Wii in 09.
There are a few recurring animated TV shows that keep "popping up" and have naturally caught my attention. Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of those series. With several games already made, I decided it was time to try one of them for myself. Into The Inferno is my first experience with Avatar as a series and to be quite honest it hasn't left as bad a taste in my mouth as I thought it would. Read Review

Back when the Wii launched Excite Truck was a diamond in the rough. Monster Games, the chaps enlisted to create the game, are back at it again and theyve been developing this game for Nintendo since December 2006. But theyre not giving away anything too solid about what they have been making. The game is said to be being developed so super secretly that The designers must darken their monitors when the bottled-water deliveryman enters the office. So what could it be? Some people say F-Zero...

But of course our friend Wii Fit is not far behind, rising back to position two with Wii Music dropping down to third. Lich King brings in forth with the evergreen Wii Play hanging onto 5th. COD and Gears take the next two stops and Mario Kart Wii surges back up to 8th. Lastly the other Call of Duty hits 9 and WWE hits back on the PS2 in tenth. More inside
Don't expect to see the recently release Bionic Commando Rearmed on the WiiWare service, says Capcom. Apart from never fitting on the Wii (size wise), the game would have to be placed onto a disc, but things still wouldn't work out. Chris Svensson, Corporate Officer, goes on to say that he is "not sure the result would be completely satisfactory. I think you underestimate how technically advanced BCR is. It's built on the same engine as the big BC is." How about the very recently released Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix? That's out too. More inside
It's not Kid Icarus, but it kind of looks like it. Coming to WiiWare sometime soon, Icarian: indred Spirits is a story of Nyx, a winged girl who has descended from heaven to search for her friend, Icarus. The game is a 3D side scroller that uses the Wii Remote to fly, aim and shoot your way through levels. The game is set in ancient Greece and you'll need the help of Zeus and his powers to survive. Level 5s great Professor Layton games are getting transformed into a movie just as the last game launches in Japan. While there was a live action movie last year, in 2010 there'll be an all new animated movie titled "Professor Layton The First Movie", with a new and original story. Like the Pokemon movies the Layton movie (as the title suggests) probably wont be the last movie. Lets just hope Nintendo decide to release more Layton games here before 2010.
Three games adorn the new releases page of the Wii Shopping Channel today with a variety of games from three different consoles making their debut. First up from the SNES is Space Invaders: The Original Game which, like all SNES games , goes for 800 points. Secondly is the arcade hit Metal Slug 2 from the NeoGeo for 900 Points. Last but not least is Forgotten Worlds, another side-scrolling action game for 2 players from the Sega Megadrive.
While the DS has finally proven itself to developers as a viable platform, the i part of the DSi has Capcom a little more hesitant, as it's not sure it'll develop DSi specific titles (downloadable or otherwise). "As the Nintendo DSi was just released recently, Capcom would like to see the response of users in the future and respond to that. We select the console based on our game concept." More inside
The 40/40 Famitsu score has only been given to a few games in history, but now we can chalk another one up. While there is 9 games on the honour roll, three of those have been given this year with Sega's visual novel for the wii titled 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ getting the gong. The game is a visual novel which uses photographs to tell the story of a young man who is a virus researcher, a detective and a freelance writer. While the rest of the 40/40 team have made it out of Japan, don't expect this one any time soon - or ever, for that matter. The market for that genre is sadly quite small in the west.
Ubisoft has revealed through a press release that its third quarter has been going very well. While they've been having great sales on other console games, the Wii and DS also got off to a good start. With games like Rayman Raving Rabbids TV and Shuan White doing well in the US but having a slower start in the UK. Ubisoft still thinks it can reach its raised sales target especially with games like Prince of Persia still on the way.
Famitsu Magazine publisher Enterbrain has announced that, according to their figures, the Wii has now sold over 7 million units. But its not all good news, with Wii sales actually slowing as, since its launch in Decmember 2006, the Wii hit 5 million sales at the start of the year but is now only at 7. Thats not as bad as it sounds, as the Wii has still been selling at a phenomenal rate.
The first ever Ben 10 video game has so far sold 2.5 million copies across the Wii, DS, PSP and PS2. D3Publisher president of North America and Europe Yoji Takenaka said the company was thrilled to see the game perform so well. Although we've been seeing it on boxes for a while Nintendo has officially issued a statement that basically says that their iconic red logo will be changing hues to a nice gray colour. Sent to media outlets today Nintendo has said: "For several years, a new generation of Wii and Nintendo DS games have adorned themselves with a new logo, in discrete grey. In various publications the former logo, with red lettering, can still be seen. We would like to sincerely ask you to now only use the current, gray Nintendo logo." We'd like to point out that nothing else about the logo has changed, which is good to see.
Director of The Legend of Zelda games Eiji Aonuma has said in a new interview that he is not going to give up on the Zelda series until he tops the evergreen Ocarina of Time. Im happy that a title I worked on some time ago remains highly praised to this day, but that also shows how none of the subsequent games in the series have surpassed it. As someone who is still working on the series, I have mixed feelings about that. Because I havent yet surpassed it, I cant quit. Surprisingly, that simply motivation may be the reason I continue to work on the Zelda series. So could another Zelda ever top Ocarina? Seems like Aonuma thinks so.
That rumour that Nintendo wouldn't be allowing new codes for the Wii Speak Channel to be issued if you happened to pick up a second hand Wii Speak accessory? Complete piffle according to Nintendo with the Big N now confirming those who have misplaced or lost a download code can requested a new one from customer support. This of course if for Nintendo Europe but we'd expect Nintendo Australia too offer a similar thing should you require it. The Wii Speak accessory goes on sale December 4th here in Australia, available separately or bundled with Animal Crossing: Let's go the City.
In a new interview developers of Disaster Day of Crisis have spoken about their disappointment in the sales of the game. According to Nintendo the game has been "performing lower then expected" which doesn't bode well for a US release. But this doesnt mean we will never Raymond Bryce again with Keiichi Ono, Director at Monolith Soft letting slip that a DS version of the game was thought about at one point, Ono says they'll "can consider [ a DS version ] if we have many requests." but admits that the Disaster theme is suited to the home console.

In what must obviously be someone taking a jab at Nintendo, Chris Lewis, VP of the Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft EMEA has come out and proclaimed that among a bunch of other features that the Wii doesnt have online. [the Wii] isnt an online connected platform, it isnt high definition, it doesnt offer the scalability we offer in the SKU lineup and the storage ability. says Lewis in an interview. 360 owners should also be thank Microsoft doesnt include "the internet" on the 360 either, Internet Explorer on your Xbox? No thanks.
Nintendo Europes Club Nintendo has gotten a new refresh of stock and a couple of very cool additions in the form of not one, but two Super Mario Galaxy soundtracks. While the soundtracks are the same that hit the Japanese store a while back they are now in English (the packeging obviously) and come in two edittions a gold and plantiunum one. The difference between the two is hefty 50 odd tracks so if you've got the extra 1000 points you'd be worth holding out for one. This of course is all salt in the wound for Aussie and American Nintendo fans as our promised Club's are still missing in action.
Previously only available from the Japanese Club Nintendo (or via eBay and about a $100 dollars) is the Game and Watch collection for the DS, the only collection that makes more sense than Obama. According to GameFront the collection is heading to America, now while we're not sure if this is retail release or perhaps a Club Nintendo prize as the game only had 3 classics on it, it would have to be really cheap or have a ton more classics added to it.

Fans of the incredibly popular Square Enix, perhaps best known for their Final Fantasy series, were no doubt shocked at the decision to open a development studio in California. They will be made for WiiWare, as well as Xbox Live and Playstation Network. More inside
In a little bit of pre-Christmas cheer, Nintendo Australia has released the latest sales figures for the Wii and DS hardware Down Under and the figures are looking very impressive. On the Wii front, hardware sales have now reached 750,000 units sold in 102 weeks, making it the fastest selling console to reach that mark. More inside
Collectors editions are something Wii only gamers are not familiar with as most developers usually only offer Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 versions of multiplatform games with collectors type bonuses. Sega, however, is bucking the trend with The House of the Dead: Overkill, today announcing that when PAL gamers preorder Overkill they will receive the game in a slipcase accompanied with an exclusive graphic novel which takes place the night before the game. Littlest Pet Shop for the Nintendo Wii is a well crafted virtual pet game aimed at younger girls which does a great job of catering to its target audience. It features a multitude of adorable pets to adopt, hundreds of accessories to collect, and four beautifully crafted areas to explore. While most Wii owners will probably be turned off by the sugary sweetness of the content, there is no doubt that Littlest Pet Shop should be recognised as a well made game that caters perfectly to its intended audience. As a disappointing opening for the new EA Sports Freestyle name, the vague comedic likeness of sporting and musical celebrities don't save Celebrity Sports Showdown from being an underwhelming collection of sports themed mini games. In an unnecessary attempt to emulate the popularity of Nintendo's already widely circulated Wii Sports, the 12 included game types provide little entertainment or satisfaction when demanding repeated play for any real value in a purchase. Highlights: It was to be expected but World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King has topped the Aussie charts on debut leaving everyones fave Wii Music in second. Wii Music just beat out both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version of Call of Duty: World at War. The Wii has also had more success with the Wii version of the Guitar Hero World Tour Super Bundle topping all the Guitar Hero SKUs's including the 360 and Ps3 version. Chart regulars Wii Fit and Wii Play squeeze in at 6 and 7. Can Wii music hold another week with more new releases having launched since Wii Musics launch? More inside

Boom Blox was one of those rare titles that actually tried something new. Well, it looks like they're going to try something new again! With... Boom Blox 2. Nintendo really do hate homebrew. A new policy has been brought in with the latest firmware upgrade. The new policy is as follows: "We may without notifying you, download updates, patches, upgrades and similar software to your Wii Console and may disable unauthorized or illegal software placed on your Wii Console to ensure that your Wii Console is operating properly and efficiently, comply with applicable laws, assist law enforcement, protect us and our customers... Rising Star games had, rather unexpectedly, a playable beta build of Little King's Story on display at the eGames expo. It's the latest project from the creator of the Harvest Moon series, but it's something else entirely. Something along the lines of a 'life-kingdom-harvest-combat-strategy-simulator', the game looks somewhat like Animal Crossing but oozes a story book atmosphere with a humorous tang. More inside

It will be available December 4th for either $99.95RRP by itself or for $129.95 with the Wii Speak accessory and code for Wii Speak Channel bundled in. We recently had the chance to go hands-on with the title and our impressions can be found here.
Nintendo has unleashed another Wii System update, this time moving the number to 3.4. So whats in it? USB Keyboard Support for Mii Channels, Enhanced Parental controls (hah) and system functions have been improved. Just what system functions is Nintendo referring to? Why, SD read and write speeds of course. According to reports copying channels to SD cards has been greatly improved. For those with homebrew and other additions to your Wii that aren't Nintendo sanctioned, it may be best to wait on updating your console unless any surprises are in the update.
Japan's Club Nintendo give out some really nice things. Special DS games, for example. But what about America? It seems they will be handing out physical goodies - that is, not ringtones and wallpapers like the European one - in exchange for your virtual points. Just like the Japanese club. Little is known right now, but as soon as Club Nintendo US is up and running expect to have a pretty list to drool over and envy. "Club Nintendo Australia" you say? Well we asked Nintendo at eGames what was happening with that. Their response? "Just around the corner". Let's hope that corner is not 2009.
Christian Svensson, Capcom's Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development, has once again stepped in to ease the mind of troubled fans. We all doubted a localised release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, but is it on the way after all?"The issue is that there are multiple potential outcomes
its not as simple as yes its coming or no, its not. And we have a few other issues to contend with that Im not able to get into details on that are coloring what direction we are able take with the franchise in the West." Says Svensson. More inside
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, rumoured to be cancelled by EGM, is most definitely on the way. There may be some concerns as a firm ship date has not been set but rest assured there will be an announcement once we finalize the date internally."
