Makers of all things switchers and converters, Tzero-Analog Devices has anted up with the announcement of a wireless HDMI technology. All we know now is that it's HDMI and it's wireless.
What we suspect? Flash drive-esque units that plug into the source output and destination input. What we hope? HDMI 1.3 support so we can rock surround sound without any wires. Because even one is one too many.

With its multiplatform security support, fast data-transfer rates and smart design, the Lexar 4GB JumpDrive Lightning is ideal for a Windows or Mac user's needs, says Editor in Chief Scot Finnie.

Move over,
Jake Gyllenhaal as Joe Namath -- HBO has acquired the rights to the book "Game of Shadows" and they're gonna be the first to
make a movie about Barry Bonds (unless Fox scripts, shoots, and releases one next week). We all know the plot -- millionaire baseball star on top of the world, reviled by the media, eventually shoots equine growth hormone into his testicles -- but there's still one big question:
Who should HBO pick to play Barry Bonds? Here's our list of the lead contenders:
Don Cheadle - He's automatically good in everything, and he has a history of carrying HBO movies in the past, but would he be able to play a convincing "later-years" Bonds when he has a bunch of painted clay synthetically affixed to his entire muscular system? Probably, I guess.
Keenan Thompson - He wouldn't need to wear a body suit, and he does have experience portraying Barry on "SNL", plus any director using him in a recorded movie with multiple takes of each scene might be able to cut down the number of times he cocks his head 90 degrees towards the audience and cracks up.
Dennis Haysbert - Who wouldn't want to see
Cerrano back on the baseball diamond? He'd have to learn to hit left-handed, but hell, he couldn't even swing within three feet of a curveball in his rookie year, and he learned to overcome that. Plus any decision that increases the chances of a
Corbin Bernsen cameo ought to be seriously considered.
Billy Joel - The blackface might be an issue, but Billy Joel may be the only other person on earth whose head has physically tripled in size over the past decade. Surely he'd be able to draw on the personal angst caused by this cranial swelling to produce a realistic, memorable performance. He could also do the theme song -- an identical re-recording of "We Didn't Start the Fire" with the lyric "Richard Nixon" just replaced with "Barry Bonds".
Danny Glover - Would it detract at all from the film if Bonds goes to the A's to DH, strikes out against Johan Santana, and quips "I'm gettin' too old for this sh*t" into the camera as he returns to the dugout? I say no, it definitely won't at all.
Alan Cumming - He already has the voice nailed, and he was athletic enough to play Nightcrawler, so what's a little shoe polish here and there?
So really, should play Barry Bonds? Leave your casting decisions (or giant headshots) in the comments.
Looking at the worldwide numbers from the week ending November 18th, in Japan the PS3 sold a whopping 53,000 units, compared to the Wii at 36,000 and the Xbox360 at a dismal 6,000. In Europe, the Wii leads with 132,000 units, followed by the PS3 at 84,000 and the Xbox360 at 58,000 units sold. In the United States, the PS3 is last at 95,000 units, followed by the Xbox360 at 163,000 and the Wii at 254,000.
Totting up these numbers we get an approximate world total of 422,000 for the Wii, 232,000 for the PS3, and 227,000 for the Xbox360. So here it can be seen that although the Playstation 3 leads in two major sections of world sales, it comes in almost equal with the Xbox360. This of course is impressive, considering the past numbers the PS3 was doing, but in comparison to increases from competing consoles, the PS3 is selling well but not that well.
Where does Sony?s reported 300% sales increase come from? Without official numbers it is difficult to hazard a guess, but once again looking at the estimates from VGChartz we can perhaps see. Sony said there was a 300% increase since the 2nd of November. Well on the week ending the 3rd November, VGChartz lists the PS3 as selling 55,000 in the US. Comparing to their forecast of this weeks sales (week ending 25th November), a staggering 174,000 PS3?s were sold. You can now see an approximate three fold increase. Sony could have made their increase sound even more impressive by using sales numbers from the week ending 20th October, where the PS3 sold only 28,000 meaning they could have reported an insane 600% increase in sales!
However, although this increase is impressive for the previously lagging console, looking at US numbers for the other consoles in the week ending 25th November, the Xbox360 has an increase to 254,000 and the Wii an increase to over 350,000 as reported by Nintendo themselves. In conclusion, the Playstation3 is certainly making a come back, but when compared to the increases made by other consoles in this Holiday period, it?s not selling as magnificently as we may have thought after Sony?s press release.
Two months on, how does the iPod touch fit into my digital life? Quite comfortably, thank you.

Game Releases for the Week of 11/26-12/2
Hope everyone had a great...

There are plenty of reasons for PS3 fans to be skeptical of The Orange Box port. But the technical issues aren't going to be enough to deter anyone who wants to enjoy Orange Box on PS3. Unless you require your games to never dip below 30fps, you should not strike The Orange Box off your PS3 holiday wish list.
The first day sales of various titles have now been unveiled and Square Enix's Dragon Quest IV remake for Nintendo DS has sold an amazing amount on just its first day. According to leaked data, the game has shot through 70% of its stock to pass the 360,000 mark, but there are also anecdotal reports from those in Japan that state there is a plentiful supply of the game on store shelves, so perhaps there is more stock available than first reported. Whatever the case, the game should be able to fly towards the 500,000 mark with ease by the next Media Create chart update and creep towards a million as the holiday period takes full hold.

There are nearly as many flavors of the first-person shooter as there are Eskimo words for snow. Unreal Tournament III belongs to the same genus as Quake and Halo?the over-the-top, science-fiction-themed frag-fest. And while the game shares the same bulky, space-marine-styled heroes, exaggerated physics, and nutso weapons as its compatriots, there's enough happening in Unreal Tournament III for it to stand on its own two rocket-boots.
Fourth most frequently spotted Gawker Stalkee (after Chris Noth) Sean Lennon, whose new album features cameos from Lindsay Lohan, Devon Aoki, Asia Argento, Jordana Brewster and Carrie Fisher -- not to mention fellow boomer-icon offspring Harper Simon and Bijou Phillips -- is a stalwart when it comes to refusing to use his connections for material gain. Obviously! A San Francisco Chronicle reporter found this out the hard way:
Q: Do you ever call [older brother Julian] for career advice? Do you call anyone for advice?
A: Do I ever call anyone for advice? That's a really stupid question, dude.
Q: It is?
A: Well, I mean, "Do you ever call anyone for advice?" It's so vague. Have you ever called anyone for advice? Yes, sure. I mean, what are you trying to say? Do I call celebrities that might be interesting for me to give you an anecdote about?
Q: That's what people want to read.
A: You're so transparent, dude. Get over it. Why don't you just say, "Do you ever call celebrities?" You didn't say that because that sounded too stupid. You had to say it in this sort of backhanded way.
Q: Wait, let me rephrase it: "Do you ever call celebrities?"
A: It's just such a dumb question I can't even dignify it with an answer, dude.
Seriously, what are you trying to imply, that Sean is some kind of talentless starfucker? You are so transparent, dude.

We got a brief shred of
playtime back at E3 this year, but Sony was kind enough to invite us down to SCEA HQ in beautiful Foster City for a little one on one with some PlayStation3s and execs. We shot some video (yes, us) and have a some notes on the hardware after the break, so check it out!

Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to video the slot loading drive in the PS3, but there isn't much to write about it. Anyone who's ever had a slot loading laptop knows the deal. It was a bit loud, but did the trick.
The port config, as we all well know by now.
That's a lot of logos.
The thing about the PS3, it's definitely optimized for heat. Without looking too much like the Mac cheesegrater, this thing is really set up for unconstricted airflow -- a far cry from its
original, smoother design. During our play time, the unit remained relatively cool -- as cool, if not cooler than the Xbox 360.
The eject and power buttons aren't tactile, but they are touch sensitive.
Here we've got the CF, SD / miniSD, and Memory Stick slots, as well as the four USB ports, hard drive indicator, and wireless indicator.
We're not 100% sure, but we think this is where the hard drive's at. We understand it may be removable, more on that shortly.

Long load times have been a concern for PSP owners ever since the system was released. But just how bad are those load times exactly? Gamespot decided to find out, measuring the time from system start-up to actual gameplay in more than 80 PSP games.
The results show the average PSP game clocking in at a whopping 103.4 seconds of load time, compared with sub-30-second load times for the average DS and Game Boy Advance game. Sports games were the worst offenders while puzzle games tended to be quicker on the draw. At just over four minutes,
WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 had the single worst load time in Gamespot's tests, a fact that should be unsurprising to anyone who's seen
this video.
Interestingly, PSP games rated 9.0 and above by Gamespot had shorter load times than any other scoring range. Does this show that reviewers appreciate short load times, or just that better games tend to be designed to load faster?
While the tradeoff between loading times and
storage space is always a tough one, we have to believe that a wait of close to two minutes is too long for a quick, portable game. What do you think? How long is too long to wait for a game to start?
(Thanks, HaloBreaker)

Former Pulp guitarist Richard Hawley has built a solo career upon mining a very specific vein of orchestral pop—the lush, string-and-horn laden croonery of countrypolitan Lee Hazlewood, the echo-drenched melodrama of Scott Walker, a bit of Sun-era Roy Orbison—while circumventing potential cries of "pastiche!" through the sheer force of his earnest vocal delivery and pitch-perfect production. Hawley's records exist in a nether-decade in which song titles like "Tonight the Streets Are Ours" and "The Sun Refused to Shine" are delivered with the straightest of faces, because, 1950s, 1990s, or 2000s, these sorts of grandiose sentiments always mean something if you say 'em right. And for the most part, when Hawley says 'em, they do.

While we're not going to complain about the launch of the cheaper
40GB PS3, we are still kind of miffed that it isn't backwards-compatible with our huge library of PS2 games -- especially since newer PS3s retain compatibility through
software emulation and not specialized hardware like earlier models. Not to worry though, because Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack "Daniels" Tretton is here to dazzle you with mathematics: according to Jackie, the consumer actually
benefits from Sony's move to cut emulation, because now you have the opportunity to buy both a $399 PS3 and a $129 PS2, for a grand total of $528, which is -- wait for it --
less than the original 60GB PS3's price of $600! Of course, what Mr. T here is forgetting is that most people would prefer a single, $399 PS3 with backwards compatibility (and rumble, for good measure), but really, once you get spinning that fast it's awfully hard to stop.
