The trailer for Breaking Upwards which will debut at SXSW 2009.
Breaking Upwards follows a young New York couple who, after four years together, have grown stifled. Desperate to escape their ennui, but fearful of life apart, they decide to intricately strategize their own break up.The film blurs the line between documentary and narrative by casting real life couple (and filmmakers) Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones as themselves. An uncensored look at young love, lust, and the pangs of codependency, Breaking Upwards follows its characters as they navigate each others' emotions across the city they love. It begs the question: is it ever possible to grow apart together?

Corinne Bailey Rae
Review:
With a 2006 debut that showed off her fluttery, Billie
Holiday-inflected wine-bar soul, Corinne Bailey Rae gave a boost to
the U.K. export industry in women singer-songwriters, earning
Grammy nods and an A-list career. Then her husband died of an
overdose. Her latest is both reckoning and rebirth. "So young for
death," she sings, smearing her girlish coo into gray-scale
abstractions and deep emotions. Fragile arrangements —

In the 90's there was a great tool called BrainSport, which was a nifty digital pedometer that track your daily movement and allowed you to compete others. Why can't that technology exist in mobile or iPod & create the drive for Social Exercising.
Liam Neeson may be in his mid-50s and best known for playing Oskar Schindler, but the guy definitely can kick some serious ass.
Neeson is unexpectedly but thoroughly credible as ex-CIA agent Bryan Mills in this terse but tough thriller from the writers of Léon: The Professional and the Transporter trilogy (Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen). Tired of Bryan's always-away-from-home exploits on behalf of "the company," wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) left him years ago, took their daughter Kim (Maggie Grace), and married a sickeningly wealthy businessman. On the eve of Kim's 17th birthday, a remorseful, retired, and far from rich Bryan has left behind his world-trotting ways and moved into a crappy apartment near his ex's Los Angeles mansion, hoping to make up for lost time by reconnecting with his kid.
Far from a suave James Bond type, Bryan is a sympathetically forlorn father without any female companionship, steady means of support, or apparent future prospects. A self-described
Granted, we've no idea what it takes to really push the efficiency level of a solar cell, but we're getting pretty bored with these incremental improvements year after year. If you'll recall, the record for solar cell efficiency sat at
40.7 percent in 2006, and that was raised to an
amazing 40.8 percent last August. Today, researchers at the
Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems have announced an all new milestone: 41.1 percent efficiency. According to team head Frank Dimroth, the crew is simply "elated by this breakthrough." Meanwhile, the rest of planet Earth is suddenly depressed by the thought of perishing from old age before this data point ever breaks the big five-oh.

I don't consider myself a huge box-office prognosticator. In fact, that box office numbers are reported every Monday on The Today Show seems fairly odd to me. Why do the majority of people out there really care? I know we, a select group of movie fans, get into this stuff but why does the rest of the world care? I don't know that I have an answer but if I had to guess it's because people react one of two ways:...

Looking for a cheap, easy NAS solution that also lets you access your data away from home? Iomega's $100 iConnect might be the gizmo for you.
Endowed with four USB ports, plus ethernet and 802.11b/g/n connectivity, setting up the iConnect is as simple as plugging in any USB-based storage device and letting the device do the rest. Iomega's new product also allows you to set up a print server, OS X Time Machine backups, a Bittorrent client, and DLNA streaming. And while it may not possess the open linux platform or remote web-streaming abilities of the Pogoplug, it pretty much does everything else (plus Time Machine!) for $30 less.

PlayStation Gamer UK Writes: "While checking the websites stats as i like to do from time to time, i did come across some rather interesting information. Looking at the section which tells me what terms people used in search engines before coming across PlayStation Gamer UK. There were the normal "PlayStation UK" and "killzone 2 pre-order" terms, the one which stood out the most however was that was a considerable amount of people (so much so it was the second most searched term before visiting this website ) entering "Will Sony Cancel the PlayStation 3?."

Microsoft's responded to the Zune 30GB failure, blaming a leap-year handling bug. And they've provided a fix. Which is to wait til New Years, when the bug will go away by itself. Huh.
Early this morning we were alerted by our customers that there was a widespread issue affecting our 2006 model Zune 30GB devices (a large number of which are still actively being used). The technical team jumped on the problem immediately and isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year. That being the case, the issue should be resolved over the next 24 hours as the time change moves to January 1, 2009. We expect the internal clock on the Zune 30GB devices will automatically reset tomorrow (noon, GMT). By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on. If you're a Zune Pass subscriber, you may need to sync your device with your PC to refresh the rights to the subscription content you have downloaded to your device.
Customers can continue to stay informed via the support page on zune.net (zune.net/support).
We know this has been a big inconvenience to our customers and we are sorry for that, and want to thank them for their patience.
Q: Why is this issue isolated to the Zune 30 device?
It is a bug in a driver for a part that is only used in the Zune 30 device.
Q: What fixes or patches are you putting in place to resolve this situation?
This situation should remedy itself over the next 24 hours as the time flips to January 1st.
Q: What's the timeline on a fix?
The issue Zune 30GB customers are experiencing today will self resolve as time changes to January 1.
Q: Why did this occur at precisely 12:01 a.m. on December 31, 2008?
There is a bug in the internal clock driver causing the 30GB device to improperly handle the last day of a leap year.
Q: What is Zune doing to fix this issue?
The issue should resolve itself.
Q: Are you sure that this won't happen to all 80, 120 or other flash devices?
This issue is related to a part that is only used in Zune 30 devices.
Q: How many 30GB Zune devices are affected? How many Zune 30GB devices were sold?
All 30GB devices are potentially affected.

you use any connected joysticks as
OpenSoundControl devices. Whenever the state of a

This version adds the ability to specify aliases
for various joystick controls on the command line.
This way you can use different controllers and
have oscjoy take care of handling any necessary

differences between the controllers.

NBC hits #1! OK, it's football and it's probably a temporary thing (plus it's the holidays), but they did it, and NBC even got a few more shows into the top 20 (even if they were temporary reality shows). I'm getting a little sick of typing the letters "CBS" each and every week though, at least when they're attached to shows like CSI. Interesting that 60 Minutes hit #3, considering it was a repeat.

Oprah Winfrey faces a nervous Christmas as she plans for the launch of her new TV network on 1 January (11) - because the ambitious project could be the worst mistake ever.

Duke Nukem Forever is a punchline these days, but that wasn't always the case. At one point, about 10 years ago, it was the anticipated sequel to a respected franchise. A Wired
article recently took a detailed look at where the game went wrong, piecing together interviews, blog posts, and comments from former 3-D Realms employees speaking on the condition of anonymity. While company heads George Broussard and Scott Miller declined to comment due to
pending litigation, the piece gives a good overview of what happened to the game.
First came the wealth. After the success of Duke Nukem 3D, along with expansion packs and licensing of the Build engine, Broussard and Miller were rich enough to indulge in the sequel without much worry of consequences. One employee commented that Broussard said they could go "another five years without shipping a game" due to their funds. While Broussard seemed to see this as a unique advantage, the team was discouraged at the possibility.
And using that money, Broussard was able to frequently delay the game. The arms race of 3D shooters led him to constantly look at the next great thing, and to play a constant game of catch-up with other titles. The game switched from the Build engine to the Quake II engine, then to the Unreal engine. The constant evolution of the industry made a moving target that was impossible to reach. "One day George started pushing for snow levels," said one developer. "He had seen The Thing, and he wanted it." The staff reportedly joked that they couldn't let Broussard see new games, and were afraid what it would mean for their game when Half-Life changed the landscape of game narrative.
