Four teenagers in the Knightstown, Indiana school system have been tossed out of school permanently for making a horror-comedy entitled "The Teddy Bear Master," in which a villainous puppetmaster uses stuffed animals to try to kill a teacher. According to the Associated Press, which is running a story on the incident, the school superintendent is defending the expulsion partly on the grounds that the fictional teacher targeted in the film has the "same last name as a real teacher in the district." At first blush, that sounds like a very thin justification for the action, perhaps ginned up to protect the expelling principal against valid charges of overreach. The story also notes that the sophomores worked on the film from fall 2005 through this past summer, which if true, makes it seem much less likely that there were bad intentions. Two of the students, 15-year old Isaac Imel and 16-year old Cody Overbay, have sued in U.S. District court to have their expulsion overturned.
If the AP story is a fair representation of the facts in the case, it would seem that the school district doesn't have a leg to stand on. The story notes that a local prosecutor's office screened the film and declined to press any kind of charges, and the attorney for the school district has been reduced to filing court papers citing "vulgar and offensive language" in the film in addition to the (apparently) vague charge of teacher intimidation. The ACLU is representing one of the students.

Gametap: "It hasn't even been a minute since I hit "start campaign" before I simultaneously ask and answer the following question: What's the weirdest thing about the newest Unreal Tournament title?
Yes, there is a story. One with characters, motivations, and chapters. There's an intro cinematic, and characters actually exchange dialogue without trying to shoot each other! I find myself in the bizarre position to give a story summary for the latest UT game. The game opens as the main character, Reaper (who resembles Marcus Fenix, but sans bandana and growly attitude and with a bizarre armored skirt) is trying to rescue his family and friends from a Necris attack on a colony. He gets taken out by the Necris, only to find himself revived and under the employ of the Izanagi corporation. Izanagi is in full-out war with the Axon Corporation over territory, and has hired you to help it win".

On the official Ubisoft forums the UK Forum Manager has debunked yesterday's rumor that said that Tom Clancy?s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is not coming to the PlayStation 3.
A forum member asked this: "Why is it only listed as 360 and PC? This is 4 PS3 as well right? Obviously that's the assumption since you're announcing it here. Could you confirm because the rumors are already flying that this is a 360/Windows exclusive."
UK Forum Manager ms-kleaneasy's answer is: "This weeks press release???".
She quotes the whole press release in her reply putting emphasis on "announced that it is developing Tom Clancy?s Rainbow Six® Vegas 2 for next-generation consoles and PC."

Fujitsu takes some poundage off your shoulder with its latest 14-inch LifeBook S6510 notebook, weighing in at a mere 4 lbs, and measuring just 1.42" at its thickest. Under the hood, the compact S6510 has a Intel Core Duo 2 processor, an LED backlit WXGA display, a webcam and fingerprint scanner. Fujitsu also released another 14-incher, the LifeBook S7210, though this one didn't skip dessert: At 1.2 lbs. heavier, it's more in line with other notebooks of its size. The specs are similar except that the S7210 adds a dedicated smart-card slot. Both laptops are currently available; the S6510 retails at $1,530, while its more rotund sib costs $1,330. Guess you're not paying by the pound. [Fujitsu]

One day I will write my own coffee table book featuring obnoxious calculators from around the world, but until then, we have the Eggulator. The name "Eggulator" is actually the clever amalgamation of the words "egg" and "calculator". The keys resemble eggs.
You know that whatever sweatshop produces these calculators makes the same thing in green and markets them as a "Golfulators", leaving the chick in the bottom corner as a "birdie". And to think, they're only charging $16.99 for this eggciting gift. – Mark Wilson

Well, once again, I’m disappointed in Kelly Brook. How fair is it that she made those poor girls stand there with barely any clothes on to promote “her” sleazy lingerie fashion line? Yes! It's almost here! The Emmy Award-winning
Amazing Race returns for its 12th season on CBS this Sunday evening, November 4, at 8 PM ET/PT in most viewing areas. Of course, I have nothing but sympathy for those fans of the canceled show
Viva Laughlin, but its demise brought about
TAR's rise. Well, its rise to being about to premiere instead of waiting until January for it.
Phil Keoghan returns as the host, but there has been at least one major change in store for us (and the teams) this season. The non-elimination legs which we both loved and hated dependent on who was last to the mat are no longer in play. The season will be shorter, but the whirlwind pace promises to be even more adrenalin pumping.

No, that sound you're hearing isn't overproduced metal riffs segueing into light tropicalia led by a snarling wolverine. It's the sound of a man with a very important mission, a free-world-affecting mission: to destroy the Badds using only his wits, his brute strength, and his extendable bionic arm that could potentially be used in inappropriate ways. Originally released for NES, Bionic Commando is now in development for all the next-gen systems (N-Gage, Amiga CD-32, Atari Lynx), and the (...)

Arriving in theaters in time for Halloween,
Saw III, the latest installment in Lionsgate's hit horror franchise, topped the weekend box office.
According to Sunday's studio estimates, Saw III trapped audiences in their seats to the tune of $34.3 million. That's the largest bow yet for a Saw movie, besting Saw II's $31.7 million opening and the first Saw's $18.3 million debut. It is Lionsgate's highest-grossing weekend in history.
Saw III also cut up the U.K. box office, where it opened in first place with $4.9 million, the first No. 1 opening for the Saw franchise in the U.K.
Last week's top film, The Prestige, slipped to third place with $9.6 million, while last week's No. 3 film, The Departed, moved up to second place with $9.8 million.
Clint Eastwood's Flags of our Fathers was in fourth place with an estimated $6.4 million. The WWII drama is considered by some industry pundits to be a disappointment given its high budget, but Variety points out that Flags is performing roughly the same as Eastwood's last few awards season contenders.
Open Season rounded out the top five with $6.1 million. Flicka rode into sixth place with about $5 million, while Man of the Year held in seventh place with $4.7 million. Sony's The Grudge 2 scared up another $3.3 million to place eighth.
Although it is only playing in 859 theaters, Sony's Marie Antoinette is being dubbed an underperformer by some analysts. The film was in ninth place with $2.9 million, down almost 47% from its debut last weekend.
Another Sony limited release, Running with Scissors, shot up from 29th place to 10th place with $2.6 million, having expanded its theater count to 586 screens.
Focus Features' apartheid thriller Catch a Fire did not exactly burn up the box office in its debut, opening in 12th place with just $2 million.
Here are the weekend estimates...
| Rank | Prior | Film Title | Distributor | Weekend | Total | Weeks | Theaters |
| 1 | - | Saw III | LGF | $34,300,000 | $34,300,000 | 1 | 3167 |
