Legendary stuntman Evel Knievel has died just two days after settling an ongoing legal dispute with rapper Kanye West. He was 69.

It's a widely known fact that the Red Ring or Death has been early Xbox 360 owners? nemesis for a while now. A problem initially addressed by Microsoft by giving every user 3 years of warranty for related problems for every console out there, and money refund for those who ever paid for RROD problems.
These problems have decreased dramatically with the new models though, which have been reported to include modifications on their cooling systems such as new heat sinks and better ventilation but most important, the inclusion of a smaller, cooler 65nm CPU. While the common belief was that the GPU (Graphic Chip) was still unmodified from its original design, this article reveals that this is not the case. In fact, both dies of the Xbox 360 Graphic Chip have been reduced in size, resulting in a considerable power consumption decrease and heat reduction:
"Microsoft never released die sizes for the Xbox's chips so we had to break out the trusty ruler and measure both the old and new chips, to get an idea of how things have changed. The table below shows our findings:
Chip Old Die Size New Die Size % of Old Die CPU 176 mm^2 133 mm ^2 75.5% GPU 182 mm^2 156 mm^2 85.7% eDRAM 80 mm^2 68 mm^2 85%
Here's what's interesting: the CPU, GPU and eDRAM die all seem to have gotten smaller, but at different rates. The CPU sees the biggest reduction in size, the new core being about 75% the size of the old one, while both GPU components are around 85% the size of their predecessors.
It's possible that all three chips are now 65nm, or a mixture of 65nm and 80nm (TSMC's 80nm half-node process was used in ATI's R600 GPU). Needless to say, the chips are all smaller, which should yield some nice power savings."

It was back to all the usual suspects last week as Dancing With The Stars neared its big finale. And not a moment too soon...just when I thought I was done with annoying campaign advertisements I've had to watch ABC pimping the the show's big finish every other commercial.
Tom's Hardware writes:
"When I think of a way to summarize Unreal Tournament 3, the saying "One step forward, two steps back" comes to mind. The single player campaign should have been approached in a different manner, or just left out all together. Instead of having a single player campaign, Epic could have given gamers so much more in terms of retaining previously introduced game modes, and creating additional ones. The UI is a joke coming from the likes of Epic, and the server browser really needs an update.
What hurts PC gamers though is that Epic took a fully dedicated PC franchise and divided their resources to release on multiple platforms. Just as Gears of War took extra time to port to the PC, a simultaneous release on the Xbox 360, PC, and nearly the PS3 as well, cost Epic resources. It is my belief that in doing so, the development quality of Unreal Tournament 3 has suffered."

We'd just like to go on the record here that we are
100 percent behind any and all forays into the realm of
complicated and over-featured remotes, preferably with large screens and whole regions of buttons with absolutely zero purpose whatsoever. There, we said it. That's why we're totally digging the upcoming "Home Theater and Lighting Controller 300 featuring OmniLink" remote from Monster Central -- even the name is overreaching. Along with the natural AV controls, Monster packed in iPod, PC, home automation and other fancy functions into this beast of theirs, with a browser-based configuration tool to get it all up and running. The full $600 setup includes an RF-to-IR bridge / IR blaster, known as the OmniLink, along with a tabletop charging station and ControlLink Extender IR emitters to extend your couch-based dominion even further. All this can be yours as of now, just don't let your newfound power go to your head -- the first rule of huge-ass remotes is that there will always be another contender to the crown.

BOLD MOVES: THE FUTURE OF FORD A new documentary series. Be part of the transformation as it happens in real-time
Office Depot Featured Gadget: Xbox 360 Platinum System Packs the power to bring games to life!
The year is about to end and game stores are stacking up for the holiday rush. Not in terms of customers who have been waiting patiently for a particular game, but the truckload of AAA games that are being delivered at their doorstep.
So as a consumer which games do you choose for your system? Especially since the floodgate seems to be more over powering than ever, so where exactly do you spend those $60 and get a steal deal, in terms of gameplay, value and satisfaction. There are loads and loads and loads of games in the markets that appeals to a set of individuals, so do go ahead and pick the games that you love to play and adore.
This list has been prepared with a totally unbiased opinion and takes into account overlapping genres and economics of expenditure.
Apparently a consumer that purchased Call of Duty 4 at Best Buy received a DVD that was completely blank. Thankfully, he opened it while he was still inside the Best Buy, so exchanging it wasn't a problem. (Though some random Geek Squad guy did accuse him of being a scammer.)

I should have known better than to start
writing columns and dreaming too much about a
Preacher movie. Apparently, the project is just as iffy as its ever been.
EmpireOnline caught up with newly appointed director
Sam Mendes to find out that things aren't as definite as they seem.
"I'd love to make
Preacher. But there's no script. This is a typical
Variety announcement, 'Mendes to direct
Preacher' - I wish! Basically they should have written, 'Mendes in development with
Preacher'. What I'm doing is, I've gotta find a script. I've just got to get it written." To be fair,
The Hollywood Reporter did say that Mendes would "lead the search" for writers, but the directing job didn't seem so questionable.
Mendes does sound pretty enthralled with the material, so at the very least he'll have a good go at it. "It's brilliant, it's an incredible twisted vision. There's so much of it you couldn't possibly fit it all into one movie. It's just about what you keep and what you leave out, and how you structure the story. But just to have that toy set again, being able to paint on a big canvas and to say 'I am gonna do crazy crane shots and massive action sequences again because I want to,' it's exciting."
But enthusiasm doesn't always get movies made. Plenty of people have fallen for the material in the past, and this adapting it for the big
or small screen always falls short of the finish line. I fully expect this to slip back into the purgatory of pre-production, the rights to the series collecting dust on a Columbia shelf.

This article explains in very simple terms and makes an excellent analogy to how much power your PS3, X360, and Wii are using in terms of both Watts and numbers of Light bulb. Worth a read for people who are wondering the difference between 90nm vs 65nm since there are so much talk of such revisions in the PS3 recently.

Set in the 1970's, Breakfast on Pluto follows the exploits of Patrick Braden (Murphy), an endearing, but deceptively tough young man. "When you buy Rock Band, be prepared for an absolute onslaught of packaging. Season Six of 24 gets a running start with a two-night, four-hour premiere beginning January 14th, but Fox is so excited they went live with an extended trailer this afternoon.
Jack Bauer was last seen, beaten, bloodied and bound, on a ship headed for China. Now he's walking off a transport plane, with a beard and long hair and looking like a cross between the Unabomber, Devendra Banhart and that guy who'd wash up on the beach on Monty Python, but he's soon cleaned up to be sacrificed at the altar of international relations. There's a lot of explosions and mayhem, but nothing quite as scary as Kiefer Sutherland's introduction to the whole shebang, in which he thanks the fans and steps a little too close to the camera.
See the trailer, with the added bonus of a car commercial, here.
