There has been a lot of talk about whether or not Polish developer Nibris would actually release anything, but following the hands-on with Double Bloob for DS, Cubed³ has now had playtime with the latest version of vertical shooter ROTR, arguably the more anticipated of the two portable projects revealed so far. But with German outfit Shin?en readying Nanostray 2 for release, a game in a similar vein, how well does this game hold up and should it warrant you waiting until early next year for your space-shooting fix?

SPOnG caught up with the developers behind Haze, Free Radical, yesterday, and amid all the chat about entering warzones jacked up on drugs and who'd win in a fight between Buddha and Jesus?, some interesting things were said about the PlayStation Network. Specifically, the joy and the terror provided by the freedom it enables.
"The disadvantage of the Sony stuff is that there isn't as much defined by Sony as to how you have to do things - they leave it very much up to you" Derek Littlewood, project leader on Haze told us.

One of the drawbacks of the 2nd gen. iPod Shuffle was that it lacked an integrated docking method. Monster obviously noticed the flaw and released the iSlim Shuffle charger in response. It is impressively small. At $14.95 the price is reasonable. Considering the Shuffle is an absolute minimalist player, spending more to kit it out probably is not the main idea. Still, that has not stopped it being decked out in 18K solid gold in the past.
Like communism, this is a great idea—but like communism it will never work. You will get it and you will be happy at the cute stature of it. Your girlfriend will love it too; it might even stop her thinking about babies for a second, if you are lucky. One day however, you will lose it and you will realise the only reason you lost it is because it is so damn small. You will curse its infernal size. Your girlfriend will recall babies, everyone will stand around stunned that they were duped into thinking they were equal when, in fact, there were loads of people who were more equal than others. The balances will shift, democracy will rightfully rule and some people will get cheap oil. Point is, just get a MP3 player with a screen and an inbuilt docking method if you are that fussed, it will save everyone the hassle. [Slippery Brick].

This week the Daily News' Clem Richardson penned testimony to the gorgeous mosaic that is our city. Clem used to be a poor tipper to the delivery guys who brought him his Chinese food, but a call from the restaurant's owner helped him learn a valuable lesson. It's got so many of the great New York stereotypes: the black guy who skimps on gratuities, the comically-accented Asian restaurateur who refuses to pay his workers a decent wage, the surly deliverymen who will make a brother walk down the stairs if he doesn't treat them right.... The only thing missing is the Jewish guy who makes his money off the toil of others. Oh, wait, that's the paper's publisher! Anyway, a valuable lesson is learned and everyone discovers how to get along. Yay New York!

Tears of Benevolence is about a Chinese business woman, Yuting Wang, who recovers from a heart attack after discovering a meditation practice. It is a second chance in her life and she becomes determined to live as a better person.
Soon after, the meditation practice is banned and thousands of practitioners have their homes ransacked and are taken to prison. In response, Wang goes to Beijing to appeal and is arrested.
In prison, unspeakable violence and terror reign. Wang upholds her noble cause of justice and meets retaliation through torture. The prison guards attempt to brainwash her, but to no avail. Near death, Wang is released and she escapes to America.

Writing really happening dance music is one thing, but getting some prime apes to play your tunes live is another. Everyone knows about those Gorillaz videos with cartoon monkeys, and they were really famous because of them. MTV didn't play those videos non-stop simply because the music was good; they played them because monkeys are fun to watch. James Ellis Ford and James Anthony Shaw have figured out that having monkeys in your band is the secret to success, and now they're taking it one (...)
