Wednesday amidst a flurry of Xbox Live content unleashed during Thanksgiving week.
Knights of the Nine doesn't stray too far from
Oblivion's established mechanics. In that sense, if you found the initial offering to be spoiled by repetition, this pint-sized expansion is unlikely to win back your interest. But
Knights of the Nine does offer a sizeable questline and some new content (items, Aurorans, etc.) for those that continue to comb the land of Cyrodiil.

Nonsensical plot, ham acting and portentous doggerel dialogue aside, this may very well be Industrial Light and Magic’s finest hour, besting even Close Encounters in the shock-and-awe stakes. While there maybe nothing as uniquely breathtaking as the mothership in that movie, the sheer scale of the undertaking here is quite astounding- every few minutes there’s something new and striking to feast one’s eyes on. The main problem with this is that the space scenes and planetary exteriors look so good, they can’t help but throw the crude 70’s sets and lame nylon costumes into sharp relief.
Points, too, for Jerry Goldsmith’s worldbeating score, combing the best elements of his own loony Planet of the Apes soundtrack with more commercially successful John Williams efforts like Star Wars to create something consistently surprising and satisfyingly weird, but still triumphal and stirring. Far better, in fact, than the film really deserves. The question still remains- was the guy who directed The Sound Of Music really the best choice?

At about 6:15, legions of Wii-equipped Segways and guys with LCD TVs propped above their heads emerged from Toys 'R' Us to titillate and entertain the front section of the line. While the LCD TV guys didn't have much to do other than hand out stickers, the Segways had big ol' TVs on the front hooked up to playable Wiis. Boy, it almost makes sitting on the sidewalk in Times Square all night for no real reason worth it, doesn't it?

The new XPS 710 packs Intel's Core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad-core CPU, letting you throw any multi-threaded app you can find its way. For expansion, the desktop has four memory slots and seven expansion slots comfortably fitting as many video cards as you can afford. Dell's 30-inch LCD also got a few upgrades. The new UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC now has a 92 percent color gamut, which Dell claims will deliver brighter, crisper colors. It also has a faster 8ms grey-to-grey response time (vs 11ms on the old panel). All this goodness is gonna cost you though. The XPS (available today) will start at $3,699 while the monitor (which will be out the 21st) will go for $1,699. Medion's new GoPal GPS units have an unusual extra feature intended as a deterrant for thieves: fingerprint scanners. The GoPal X5535, P5235 and P5435 all have a tiny scanner and will only work when they recognize one of five stored prints, making them useless if stolen. They've all got 5-inch screens, though the P5235 has voice control, the P5435 has Bluetooth and the X5535 has a gyrometer so it can compensate for brief losses of GPS signal by detecting car movements—all three get live traffic updates with Traffic Message Channel. Pretty neat, though leaving your GPS in your car is likely to tempt some thieves to break in, no matter how secure the device itself is. Out in Europe at the moment, no pricing info is available. [
