Yahoo hopes to spur on an industry that has been slow to fight the scourge of so-called phishing attacks.

Gurus at the University of Warwick have developed a system that "identifies partial, distorted, scratched, smudged, or otherwise warped fingerprints in just a few seconds." The process is garnering attention thanks to its ability to spit out results in the blink of an eye after it "unwarps any fingerprint that has been distorted and creates a clear, digital representation that can then be mapped onto an image space of all other prints held on a database." Reportedly, researchers have already established the Warwick Warp spinoff company to bring the technology to market, and they're looking in the commercial access control, financial transaction authorization and possibly even ID card / border control segments for opportunities.

Hop on the Electrobike Pi, and through the courtesy of your two feet and its 1hp motor, no one will ever be able to blame you for global warming again. Three reasons? It's efficient, it's fun, it's socially responsible and it looks cool. Okay, maybe the cool look is the ".14" reason. It still has a carbon footprint (a minuscule 210 pounds a year if you ride it 100 miles a week), but reduce that number to zero (for $1800 extra) by attaching its giant arch-shaped solar charger, and after an eight-hour day in the sun (or 2.5 hours plugged in) that battery is good for another 25 miles, even if you don't peddle at all.
Let's get this straight: In its stock form, this is not exactly a racing bike—its top speed using just its nickel hydride batteries powering its 750-watt electric motor is only 20 mph, and it weighs about the same as an anvil, a hefty 58 pounds without your butt gracing its seat. But it's efficient, working like a hybrid car with its flywheel that charges up the battery when you apply the bike's brakes. We're also hearing you can hop up the thing with some aftermarket modifications, goosing its top speed up to 46 mph. No word on how long the batteries will last at that hasty clip.
Now the bad news: You'll drop $7,500 for the Electrobike Pi, and extra batteries, each good for 200 charge cycles, are $750. To be available at Design Within Reach studios in the United States, there will be just 500 of these electric bikes sold. Could be the first batch of many. Sure beats a Segway. Unlike the organized crime organizations typically glorified in film, the vory appear to be a more civilized form of organized crime. Ignore the fact that they judge their members by the prison tattoos they carry and that a power struggle is going on that was initiated by the grisly slitting of a members throat which calls for retaliatory throat slitting. This is a civilized organization that seems more interested in talking than anything else. Lots and lots of talking, a lot of which feels useless and unnecessary.
Regular viewers of Best Week Ever would probably be surprised by the fact that only about .001 percent of the funny stuff panelist Sherrod Small says in his weekly tapings is suitable to be repeated aloud in public, much less aired on cable television. We could practically make a 12-hour mini-series of all his "too hot for TV" outtakes, such as this somewhat tamer example, in which he gives some frank financial advice to Disney's exiled tween nudie queen Vanessa Hudgens. For the portions of Sherrod's comedy you wouldn't mind your mother hearing, and for all our other panelists' hilarious reactions to the latest, greatest and craziest stuff that happened this week in the wonderful world of popular culture, tune into a brand new episode of Best Week Ever tonight at 9pm ET on Vh1!

Can this be possible? Can this be the fabled iPhone nano? Honestly, we don't have a clue about that. The truth is that we found this crap amazing discovery in one of the darkest corners of IFA, a remote area where people wear David Hasselhoff Live in Taipei t-shirts, floggers tried to sell us iPod Terminators (don't ask) and Addy had to beat some guy's ass with her kung-fu mojo (video of this later) when he tried to whack me to get my JesusPhone.
[UPDATE: People, I can't believe some of the comments in this post. Have any of you really contemplated this as something other than mocking a chinese knock-off and the rumor sites? It's a bloody knock-off, for chrissake! Not only is the headline and article completely tongue in cheek, but can't you see the "KNOCK-OFF" and "CRAP" tags on it? And what about the fact that this thing says "MP4 Player" on top of it? Yes, this is a crappy chinese music player that looks like an iPhone. The photo was taken at IFA 2007, in the chinese area.]

At the risk of spoiling the thousand-year-old story: Beowulf fights three monsters, and gets killed by the last one. At first glance, it seems like that might make it a pretty awful idea for a game. Shadow of the Colossus showed that the hoary, tired cliché of the boss battle could actually be done well, but even that featured a few more than three.
It would take a fair amount of ingenuity to turn the limitations of Beowulf?s setting into a compelling game experience ? but rather than grapple with that precise challenge, Ubisoft?s Montpelier-based team have elected instead to expand the setting beyond that detailed in the legend, filling out Beowulf?s life with more game-friendly scenarios.
