Superhero Hype! talked to Nicolas Cage about the highly-anticipated Ghost Rider on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Scrubs began its sixth season last night with a brief teaser of an all-musical episode set for January. Now iTunes is offering free downloads of a preview that promises a classic half-hour of television comedy that might even have the censors hopping.
The two-and-a-half minute clip is a video montage to "Guy Love," a Broadway-style duet sung by Zach Braff and Donald Faison about the "unique friendship" between their characters JD and Turk.
A sample of the lyrics exposes everything we've suspected about those guys:
Finally, one year after the official launch of its gaming platform, Sony did the right thing. The Japanese company has unveiled a new 40GB version, price-tagged at only $400 and it has slashed the price of the 80GB version to $499. All these moves have improved the sales of PlayStation 3 and for the first time in months Sony?s gaming device has managed to outsell Nintendo Wii in its homeland
So, Fabian Basabe. Just arrested for drunk driving, which made us hopeful that the poster child for male debutards would finally lie low for awhile. Alas, wishful thinking. Over the transom comes a press release about the edition of 20/20 that John Stossel & co. will be broadcasting tonight, with a segment featuring our very own Mr. Basabe. Let's see what we have in store:
He thinks he crashed two BMW's in one weekend, and is not even clear on how many boarding schools kicked him out. "I don't know, maybe seven? Six, seven, nine?," he said.
He was also kicked out of college, says Fabian. "I brought my dogs to class, I sometimes didn't go to class," he said.
That was dogS, plural, mind you. More Basabianisms after the jump.
Basabe is no longer crashing cars or trying to stay in school, and says that he's focusing his energies on philanthropy, and pursuing a career as a TV personality. But he also seems to be focusing a lot of his energies on partying. "Premium liquor and champagne flowing, and ... caviar bars, and you know, all the stuff that you see in movies, and it's great," Basabe said.
He said over the years the partying had been financed by his father, who Basabe says is a rich business man who gives him a generous allowance (Basabe would not say specifically how much he's given). Basabe is also married to an heiress of the La Perla fortune.
He doesn't need the income, but Basabe did try the 9 to 5 routine.
About five years ago he took a job on Wall Street and said it was "great."
"I met people, I saw an office, you know, the cubicles, and you know, lunch at your desk, and I saw a lot of that," Basabe said.
But ultimately he said the working life, "just wasn't interesting enough for me."
"And it's a tough life. I mean, they work until one in the morning," he said.
Basabe quit the job and hasn't had steady employment since.
We highly recommend setting the Tivo for what's bound to be a truly thought-provoking hour of quality television.

Heads-Up Displays, or HUDs, are a critical part of any game. Unfortunately, not all developers give their HUD design the priority they should.
Many games either clutter the screen with unwanted information or have a such a clumsy layout it's hard to see even basic information...say, how much health you have left.
Despite the overwhelming amount of faulty HUDs, some games have perfected this crucial aspect. Whether showing weakened health through a character's on screen animation, displaying available ammo on the weapon itself, or revealing available items by placing them visibly on the characters body, some inventive developers are working to change the way we interact with games. GamePro lists the 10 best HUDs in all of gaming... and three of the worst.

We're a little gun-shy of "visible from space" advertising hijinx after the Maxim cover prank, but hey -- anything for Colonel Sanders. The decades-dead KFC spokesman takes another dignity hit with a tweak to his look -- no longer is he wearing his white plantation jacket, but instead dons an apron. Excuse, but the Colonel doesn't make the chicken, he eats the chicken. He's a goddamned officer! Anyway, to commemorate the change, corporate parent Yum! Brands today unveiled a Sanders visible from space, if you're a high-resolution spy satellite. The 87,000-square-foot billboard rests in the Nevada desert, inviting alien munchie runs from throughout the quadrant.

Five years ago, Mark Goldstein and three partners recognized that loyalty programs were becoming a cottage industry. Coming up with the right way to manage those programs, he believed, would be a neat trick. So would finding an effective way to lure in customers. "The toughest part of the business is the selling," Goldstein, founder of San Francisco-based Loyalty Lab, told CRM Buyer.

PS3 UT3 has better graphics than Gears of War according to Mark Rein, Epic's vice president.
Speaking in an interview with Pro-G at the launch of the PC version of the game, Rein said that he was "really proud" of the PS3 game.
He said: "People are going to be pleasantly surprised. It's a really high end experience that pushes the graphics bar up even higher than Gears of War. There's more polygons, there's more stuff going on, there's more explosions and there's more things happening, so we're just really pleased with the way the game runs on the PS3."
Rein said that there is "something special" about playing UT3 on the PS3, and that while the speed of the game has been reduced by about 20%, "it feels just right to be playing it with a controller".

Codemasters is getting in on the Halloween spirit, dropping the first teaser for
Clive Barker's Jericho today (
see it on Eurogamer).
Jericho is Barker's first gaming collaboration, but the British-born horror novelist has already stretched his talents across the film, theatre, paint, and comic mediums. Video games are just the next logical step.
Judging from
these early glimpses, the development team is setting a grisly tone, but nothing shockingly novel. Codemasters has gotten too comfortable with its string of racing-sims these past few years. Let's hope a change of direction -- and Barker's imagination -- lends itself to something special, lest
Jericho become just another pretender saturating the horror genre. Show us more!

Here's a close-up hands-on gallery of the i-Mate smartphones we saw last night. We got a quick hands-on with them, and to us they feel just as speedy—if not speedier than the HTC phones we're used to (thanks to the beefy processors they have inside). The D-Pad used for scrolling is more like a nub or a small joystick than a scrollpad, which takes some getting used to. Other than that, the screens are huge, but it's hard to use a Windows Mobile phone for messaging if there's no on-board QWERTY keyboard. Only two of the phones have a keyboard, which means the ones that don't are more for incoming data than outgoing. Do we prefer these to the HTC's? It's too early to say, but they're at least on-par.

This extremely thin-looking monitor offers solid, no-frills performance that will appeal to minimalists and budget-conscious offices.

He was such a good little boy.
Jason Schwartzman has spent a significant portion of his budding career playing characters that are tenuously advancing towards adulthood. In Rushmore, he played Max Fischer, a teenage misfit who tries to woo a teacher away from an adult pal; in I Heart Huckabees, he's an environmental activist coming to terms with the demands of corporate interests; and in Shopgirl he's a hapless suitor who finds himself caught between an attractive young woman and an older, more sophisticated benefactor. This week he continues this streak in Marie Antoinette, in which he plays Louis XVI, a teenager who became the King of France. IGN recently spoke to Schwartzman about his work in Marie Antoinette at the film's Los Angeles press day. In addition to discussing his research for the role, Schwartzman talked about putting on pounds naturally and developing a synergy between his character and the kids who will soon be watching him in theaters.
IGN: How did you lose all the weight you gained for the film? Jason Schwartzman: I came back from Paris in June and the movie was kind enough to pay for a nutritionist and a trainer and it was just my goal. I had a pretty regimented diet and a strict workout routine and I just focused on it. I lied and said, 'oh, it's because it's not healthy to have on your body', but the truth is I knew I had the Shopgirl junket coming up in September and I wanted to look fine for it. It was nice. IGN: You have a permanent look of terror on your face in the film. How was it developing the character without much dialogue? Also, how did you research the role? Schwartzman: Basically, when I found out that I got the part I read everything there was to read and I met with historians at UCLA and they were very kind to me and would answer all my questions and late night e-mails. 'Why was he like this'? I moved to Paris and the people and directors at Versailles were very welcoming to me and opened their doors to me and provided me with any information I needed. I also met with Antonia Fraser and talked to her a lot. It's interesting. The more I researched him, the more I was confused because I had a list of questions and everybody had a slightly definitively different answer. In the beginning, it was really frustrating for me. 'Well, he says that but he says that and she thought that'. I just didn't know whose opinion I was supposed to portray. Then, I realized that the vagueness that was beginning to happen in my mind, I just had to accept it and maybe embrace it. So, really, instead of impersonating someone or feel like I was stepping into someone's shoes that were really well defined, I think I just decided to work with Sofia and cherry-pick the elements that were most relatable to me and express them in the film and create this guy, whoever he was going to be. At first, when I was going to play the character, I had a hard time understanding how I was going to play a king. I couldn't understand. I don't know what it's like to be a king. I didn't grow up in a castle. I was thinking about it pretty technically. Then I just thought, maybe I'll try to approach it as playing a man who was trying to connect but wasn't doing a great job of it and desperate wanted to relate to people and actually did have a lot to say but wasn't saying it and when he did say something, perhaps it was confusing to those around him and hard to read. So, in the scenes with Kirsten, I remember when we started to rehearse them, Kirsten would ask me a question and my natural inclination would be to look over at her and begin the scene; begin to talk to her and Sofia said 'no, you have to just abandon the idea of wanting to answer her or make her feel comfortable. It's okay to love her if you want to or want to connect but don't or wait as long as you have to before it's just too long'
