It?s that time of week again boys and girls, where 1PStart reminds you of what is hitting the shelves this week. After last week?s absolutely horrid selection of new goods, this week offers a slightly more fruitful bounty with The Elder Scrolls IV: The Shivering Isles headed to the PlayStation 3, but outside of that there?re just a bunch of movie-based games.
Everyone knows how that?s going to turn out.

NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server and desktop
virtualization system based on the X11 protocol.
NX is an order of magnitude faster than VNC or X11
and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec.
In addition, NX translates and embeds the MS
Windows Terminal Server and VNC protocols into
X/NX, enabling users to compress and accelerate
remote Windows and VNC sessions. The NX project
provides a suite of libraries and X11 proxying
agents implementing efficient compression and
optimized transport of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and
arbitrary protocols like audio and video over the
Internet.

This version solves some issues which may prevent
printing from working correctly when multi-node
support is enabled. The package also includes
solutions for problems affecting the NX Core. For
example, the NX session could fail during the
reconnection procedure when a font is missing; NX
agent could handle resize at reconnection in an
incorrect way; and painting errors may occur when
screen areas beyond the current viewport become
viewable in NX Client for Windows.

Mozilla today released Firefox 2.0.0.10, introducing three security fixes. The update prevents the race condition from being exploited when setting the "window.location" property, which can generate a fake HTTP Referer header and be used as a conduit for cross-site request forgery attacks. Other unspecified errors could be exploited to cause memory...

"I RIGHT THE WRONGS" VIDEO parody by Loose Bruce Kerr, based on Barry Manilow's "I Write the Songs" tells of the ultimate sex-based affirmative action by an individual: a man who does ALL the household cleaning, reversing a pattern that's lasted since the beginning of time.
High res mp4 of this video plus mp3's are free at http://loosebrucekerr.libsyn.com
Bruce sings and plays the instruments one at a time in his garage studio in Silicon Valley in Northern California, then videos them while singing and playing live over the arrangements.
Bruce is also an attorney with Sun Microsystems. His parodies are regularly featured on the Dr. Demento and Jim Bohannon Shows.

If you're in the market for a PlayStation 3, you aren't going to get a better deal than this: $199 for an 80GB PS3, bundled with a game such as LittleBigPlanet, The Force Unleashed or Far Cry 2. Also, a Blu-ray bundle, such as Firefly: The Complete Series, the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy or a James Bond Six-Pack. And hell, a PS3 remote tossed in for good measure. All for $199. But there's a catch, because there's always a catch.
These deals are a part of Amazon's yearly "Customer's Vote" promotion, in which you get to vote on which PS3 bundle you'd want to buy and then, if you're lucky, get a chance to race against everybody else for a limited quantity of said bundles. Here are how they're broken down:
PS3 Blu-ray Sci-Fi Bundle - $199.00 PlayStation 3 80GB, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Firefly: The Complete Series, PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc remote
PS3 Blu-ray Action Bundle - $229.00 PlayStation 3 80GB, Far Cry 2, James Bond Collection 6-Pack, PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc remote
PS3 Blu-ray Family Bundle - $199.00 PlayStation 3 80GB, LittleBigPlanet, Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc remote
You've got to vote on which bundle looks the best to you, but don't play it to chance: the family bundle is currently holding a solid lead. 500 of each bundle will be available on Friday, so once you vote make sure to check your email on Thursday night to see if you're in the running for them. The winning bundle will go on sale for the listed price, with the other two going up for a bit more, but still cheap. Good luck, y'all. [Amazon]

Axiomatic Multi-Platform C (AMPC) is a C to Java
class file compiler suite for the development of
platform independent applications. AMPC can also
be used to integrate C and Java programs since
AMPC's C functions can directly call numerous Java
methods and vice versa. AMPC supports a very large
subset of ANSI C (1989). It can be used to develop
new applications using C as well as port existing
applications written in C to run on JVM enabled
devices. A JNI (JVM Native Interface) feature is
available for calling native C or C++ functions.
The asm() directive can be used to embed Jasmin

Pro-G writes:
"For one, the game's learning curve is a joke, and I'm sure will prove to be a major stumbling block for new players. It starts absolutely rock hard, and you'll be spending a good few hours engaging in random battles just to level up your party to the point where you can defeat a story battle. But once you've done that, you'll find the battles immediately after are very easy, until you get to the next rock hard story fight and you need to do a bit more levelling.
You'll soon find that the camera can be extremely annoying too, but by far the worst of the game's flaws is with the multiplayer side of the game, which is largely unusable.
Despite these flaws, FFT remains one of my favourite games on the PSP. It might not have the best in-game graphics we've ever seen on the handheld, or the best multiplayer options, but few games have as much charm and tactical depth. It might not be for everyone, but for those of you with a sweet tooth for turn-based RPGs it's essential."

SCRAWL: "A new update to the official Japanese White Knight Chronicles website shows us a brand new area in the game as well as a new character. The new area is rather woodsy, it seems, as we see nothing but log-ccabins, wood, and grass. The new character, who's name we do not know in English, has a Knight just as the main character does, and it's pretty freakin' bad-ass too."

ESRB president Patricia Vance just held a short conference call to address the growing furor surrounding the discovery that the unfiltered, Adults Only version of Manhunt 2 is fully playable on the Playstation Portable with the help of a hack.
In a nutshell, Vance said what happened with Manhunt 2 was not at all similar with what happened with Grand Theft Auto San Andreas' Hot Coffee.
"With Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, that involved a scene that was fully rendered in unmodified content on the disc," she said. "It didn't alter the content it merely unlocked it. That content was not disclosed to the ESRB... and it was easily accessible to PC users."
Capcom sent a shower of images for the beat'em all Devil May Cry 4 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Planned for a February 2008 release on our continent, this mega production will place Nero at the heart of a story where Dante will make some memorable appearances. The environments spread a delectable flavour, so the delay is half forgiven.
We take a look at some of the important issues and games facing zombies today.
GamesRadar US' Mikel Reparaz reviews Manhunt 2 for Wii and PS2. The reviews for the two versions are almost the same, with the Wii review contains an additional page/section called "Get into it" that covers the Wii controls. Both versions receive the same final score. The verdict:
You'll love:
+ When it's good, it's brilliant
+ Insanely brutal even with censorship
+ Strangely compelling story
You'll hate:
- Censored all to hell
- Gunplay can get tedious
- Unskippable cinemas (Wii)
- Can't rotate camera (PS2)
Score: 7 (out of 10)

Warner Home Video is calling it a ?titlewave? and it spells nothing but good news for Blu-ray Disc fans.
Blu-ray viewers don?t have access to some Warner 20 titles that are available on HD DVD. But with the announcement of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines on Blu-ray Dec. 4, there?s hope. The announcement promises ?more high-def releases soon? and the Blu-ray of T3 will include an In-Movie Experience, Warner Bros. first picture-in-picture (PIP) BD.
Daniel Silverberg, VP of HD media development for the studio, had this to say:
?We remain hopeful that Blu-ray hardware manufacturers get Profile 1.1 and BD Live (profile 2.0) players into the market place soon and the user base grows in order for us to deliver the same interactive and connected content on all high-def discs regardless of format,?.

Renown for its BIOS manufacturing, Phoenix takes a leap into the device management market with "command and control" system for laptop PCs.
AP reports via CNN Money:
Microsoft (MSFT) shares rose Tuesday after Goldman Sachs analyst Sarah Friar added Microsoft to Goldman Sachs' "Conviction Buy List" of recommended stocks on expectations that first-quarter sales should boost share price. Friar forecasts Microsoft's revenues for the first quarter to grow on strong sales of Halo 3, Office 2007 and Windows Server 2008, among others.
Despite Microsoft's historical success with Windows, risks to its future growth include Google and Yahoo in the online sphere and Sony and Nintendo in the gaming market. Open-source software may also erode future growth, Friar said.
"Microsoft stands at a major juncture in its life cycle, with near-term product cycles balanced out by longer-term uncertainties, as new areas such as software-as-a-service, virtualization and open source seek to diminish Microsoft's grip on the desktop," Friar said in a note to clients.
