This is a robot called Land Walker. This robot has two legs and two air guns. The inventor of this robot said this was made merely for fun, no other intention at all. This video was recorded at the national art center in Roppongi, TokyoFiled under: Other Comedy Shows, TV Royalty
TV Land isn't making statues of their TV characters any longer (after everyone from Mary Richards to Dr. Bob Hartley were made into statues and put in various cities around the country), but that isn't stopping a group in Milwaukee from raising money to make a statue of The Fonz for their city. And they have the permission of Viacom to do it.
Vist Milwaukee and others have raised $57,000 of the $85,000 needed to make a statue of Arthur Fonzarelli for the city. Artist Gerald Sawyer says it's going to be one of the Fonz's classic poses, so I'm guessing he'll be standing and giving a "thumbs up" sign. (Please don't let it be of him in a leather jacket and swim trucks on water skis...). It won't be of him on a Triumph motorcycle as in the show, because Milwaukee is the home of Harley-Davidson!
The statue will be placed near the Chase Plaza office tower.

Are you looking for that special gift that tells a distant cousin, "I don't really give a crap that you are a successful tax attorney blogger who makes occasional appearances on Bloomberg cropped-head YouTube stripteases. Back when you were five, you played basketball in a peewee league for a month, and since then I haven't thought of you once."
Well then here you go, it only costs $14.99. I'll look forward to opening it. – Mark Wilson

We realize the fall update's only been out a few weeks, but it seems like an eternity for those of us that have been waiting since last November to stream media to our Xbox 360s without the need for a Media Center PC. A new TVersity patch allows users to transcode video to WMV -- now in real time -- for immediate distribution to their 360 over Windows Media Connect without the pain of duped files and finding a good WMV encoder. A little fuss, a little muss, and a few minor niggles to keep this from being a prime time solution, but still, there isn't exactly a plethora of ways to get your DivX onto your Xbox, so be grateful you've got at least something for now as the hardworking hacker front actually gives the people what the people want, whether or not it fits into Microsoft's digital media business plan.

Due to this infernal strike, last night the cast of 30 Rock performed its show in the same moldy basement at the Upright Citizen's Brigade in which Saturday Night Live performed their show on Saturday. This time, however, Rachel Sklar only wrote 2,844 words on it! [HuffPo]
Holy. Crap. Just when you thought Ginsu was done, that they couldn't top slicing not only shoes and pennies but their own Ginsu knives, the company reveals the secret project that they've put millions billions trillions of R&D dollars into: The Outdoor Electric Fillet Knife. Holy crap holy crap holy crap holy crap.
Let's paint the picture of why this invention is so monumental. You're sitting there, on the boat, preparing to fillet some freshly caught trout. Even though your generic knife is just resting on a table unprovoked, it flips into your eye where it gouges away like a spoon on a grape. The sensation hurts, but you retain 30% vision in that eye after minor surgery.
Now let's paint the same picture with the Ginsu.
You're sitting there, on the boat, preparing to fillet some freshly caught trout. Even though your 12V
is just resting on a table unprovoked, it flips into your eye where, powered by fearsome wattage and a blade that can even cut the old Ginsu that cut the older Ginsu, it will slice directly into your cerebral cortex before slicing down your body and falling to the boat floor where it cuts a hole in the very fabric of time and space itself.
Still want that generic knife? Yeah, that's what we thought. [radi design]

(S03E08) "Take them all out." - Gretchen
The writer's strike hits again. We were supposed to get five more episodes before this season's fall finale. Instead we got a plain ol' ending comparable to any regular episode of Prison Break. Certainly not what I would have expected based on this show's history. It's not a bad thing, just disappointing. I understand the need to stockpile and space out the dwindling supply of new episodes, but it's unfortunate that it results in segmenting seasons in such sloppy fashion. Enough with the complaining though. The writer's strike is happening and we knew what to expect. If you can look beyond that, this episode really was quite good. It left us with plenty of questions to ponder as we wait for Prison Break to return in January.

Despite rumors the new, internally powered PS2 would run just $99, in Japan it's selling for the same price as the old model: ¥16,000 (US $140). Even though it's no lighter on your wallet and isn't any more svelte than the current model, it does in fact weigh less, and comes in black, white and silver. For now it debuts Nov. 22 in Japan only, but a stateside launch is most definitely in the cards, hopefully along with that price cut. [Machine-Translated Press Release via Kotaku via Saving Progress]

Ah, Wintel. The mere convergence of the words "Windows" and "Intel" harkens back to a simpler time (call it the 1980s and 1990s), when Microsoft and Intel were literally joined at the hip. Microsoft provided the software, and Intel brought the brains. Today in the aught decade, everything's all whacked -- Apple has partnered with Intel, dumping IBM. Meanwhile, Microsoft is in the video game business, and now powers its Xbox with IBM chips. Well, get ready for yet another change in the who's-in-bed-with-whom story: Microsoft is leaving IBM. Who's the lucky bride? Itself! Yes, that's right, according to a report in yesterday's Gray Lady, Microsoft will be starting its own chip design division, with the ultra-creative name: "The Computer Architecture Group," and will be split between Redmond, Washington and Mountain View, California. The venerable NYT adds that Microsoft will use the lab to beef up chips in the next-generation Xbox (the Xbox 720?), and will be headed by Charles P. Thacker (pictured here working on the CAG gang sign). He's formerly of the legendary Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, where he helped work on the original Alto and the invention of Ethernet. All that aside, we're kinda concerned that IBM doesn't get too depressed over this development, and hope that Big Blue will at least get the kids, the car, and the house.
