designed for MP3, it works for any media format that can
stream over HTTP (for instance WMA and OGG). With
Subsonic you have access to your entire music collection
wherever you are. It is designed to handle very large music
collections (many thousand albums). It uses a combination of
directory structure and tag parsing to organize the music.

This release contains some significant performance and quality improvements. Excessive disk and memory usage when (re)scanning the music library has been eliminated. Thumbnails are now cached on disk; expect significant speed-ups (after a while), particularly for huge images. The thumbnail quality has been improved using step-wise bilinear resampling. Searching is now twice as fast. Wiki markup is now supported in album comments. Spanish and German translations have been added.

GameDaily BIZ reports:
Following his recent comments about today's video games being "unadulterated trash," Atari founder and Pong creator Nolan Bushnell spoke with GameTap Read to elaborate on his feelings about the current state of the game industry. Essentially, he thinks the industry simply doesn't have enough innovation.
In his latest interview, Bushnell said Halo 3 is really "Doom 1 in different clothing" and Grand Theft Auto "values antisocial behavior." Bushnell, who had said the PS3 would be a failure before it was released, also had more to say about Sony's PS3.
The man who created the first commercial video game doesn't hate everything though. He actually praised games from Will Wright such as The Sims and Spore as well as music games such as Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. Check out the full interview at GameTap.

PHPGallue is a multi-user, server-oriented image management system with a Web frontend. PHPGallue is suited for photographers to organize and publish their work. It allows the user to mark images, groups, categories, films, and series as private or as only visible to registered users. It is designed especially for large numbers of images. The Web frontend and backend libraries are completely separated, so it is easy to integrate PHPGallue as a management system into existing Web applications.

With version 1.5, Apple addressed most of the design shortcomings that have kept many photographers away from Aperture. If you plan to use Aperture primarily to import, cull, and organize photos-and rely on Photoshop for image editing--by all means consider the latest version. Aperture 1.5 also deserves a close look if you've outgrown iPhoto and you primarily shoot in JPEG format.

The game features 50 achievements totaling 1000 points. Most of the achievements are the same as the 360 counter-part, with the clever addition of the "Not So Serious" achievement that calls for 10,000 kills in Player matches, rather than Ranked matches. The "Seriously..." achievement for killing 10,000 in Ranked matches is still present, forcing players to now have 20,000 kills total, unless the achievements stack together if you get them in Ranked matches first.
There is also one secret achievement, which is most likely for killing the new boss character (the Brumak), presumably on Hardcore (or higher) difficulty like the other boss achievements.

Despite less than stellar ratings, ABC has picked up ?Brothers and Sisters? for a full season. When the network moved their hit show ?Grey?s Anatomy? to Thursdays and slid the new show ?Brothers and Sisters? into the 10 pm timeslot, its likely that they hoped ?Brothers? would have the same success that ?Greys? did in Sunday night spot following ?Desperate Housewives?.

We doubt it's necessary to pre-order a Wii now that there's going to be two million Wii units available on launch day, but if you live in Sweaty Crack, North Dakota, where there's only going to be five units, we suppose it's good to reserve one.
GameStop and EB Games stores will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii console on Friday, October 13, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supplu, we expect to reach our limit very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at that time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $50 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.
We're planning on just waltzing in and grabbing one on launch day. – Jason Chen
