Sales for Sony Corp.?s Playstation increased on the release of Capcom Co.?s Devil May Cry 4. The hardware ranked No. 4 in overall sales.

Sony this week said it will release a new silver PS3 hardware SKU in Japan. The product will be sold with a matching DualShock 3 controller.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.?s Xbox 360 ranked No. 6 in Japan despite strong release sales for Devil May Cry 4. The hardware ranked behind all other consoles and handhelds.

Sales for the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player spiked 71,900 percent at Amazon.com following a price cut to $79.99. The hardware ranked as the No. 1 product in the Video Games division earlier in the week.

Nintendo Co.?s Wii outsold the Nintendo DS and PSP in the latest Japan charts. The hardware ranked as the No. 1 product in overall video game hardware sales.
